Leviathan

Central Pacific Railroad #63 "Leviathan" was built in 1868 and was the sister locomotive to Jupiter of Golden Spike fame. The second Leviathan was completed by David Kloke in 2009 with the goal of recreating the Lincoln Funeral Car which was completed in 2015. Leviathan visited the Lorain & West Virginia Railway in 2014 and 2015 when it was accompanied by the completed Funeral Car. Photo shoots were held in the woods with Civil War reenactors offering a rare opportunity to return to the Civil War Era.

The United States was built as Abraham Lincoln's "Air Force One." Unfortunately, he never got to use it as he was assassinated the day before he was to inspect it. It was immediately converted into a hearse. The original was destroyed long ago and David Kloke built a new one from scratch.

For the better part of the 1800's most if not all American made steam locomotives share the basic design of a 4-4-0 wheel arrangement hence why Leviathan is called an American-type.
