Nickel Plate Road 767

Many do not realize that the City of Fort Wayne wanted engine #767 for a park display. Unfortunately, the real 767 was involved in a wreck before retirement and was in a terrible state. Sister 765, however, was safe and sound in the roundhouse so the Nickel Plate Road switched the number plates and nobody knew but us railfans! In 2016 the FWRHS honored this event by temporarily renumbering 765 to 767.

Norfolk Southern 58
NS 58 began life as Nickel Plate Road 358. An SD9 diesel built by EMD the engine was donated to the FWRHS who is now restoring it to operation as Project 358.

NKP Caboose 141
Caboose 141 was built for the Lake Erie & Western in the early 1900s, a predecessor or the Nickel Plate Road, and is the only LE&W caboose in existence.
